It has been a long time since the first Watch Dogs was released. Ubisoft has confirmed the existence of Watch Dogs 2, but will we see it at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year?

Ubisoft has so far announced Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, For Honor and South Park: The Fractured but Whole to be included in their E3 2016 list. The game company has confirmed that there will be no mainline Assassin's Creed this year, in order for them to focus on the upcoming movie adaptation.

The game company confirmed that Watch Dogs 2 is indeed in development, IGN reported. However, despite the first Watch Dog's positive reviews, the team still thinks that the game was not perfect "in any way", as confirmed by the game's creative director Jonathan Morin.

The sequel will involve great risks for the development team. "When you start a new project, it's a blank page and everything you do is what you want to do," Morin says. "With a sequel, there is more pressure to push a brand forward and we now have to appeal to fans in a new way."

"I will not do this job if there is no risk in it, that would just be boring," the Watch Dogs director continued. "You shouldn't prevent yourself from trying something just because it's hard and the solution is not apparent."

With the development team working very hard to bring the players a better Watch Dog experience, fans are now anticipating the day when they would finally get to see the sequel in action. Kotaku has reported that Watch Dogs 2 might be on its way this year, and is rumored to be set in San Francisco. IGN has also reported that the sequel might be out between now and April 2017, as revealed by Ubisoft's company report this year.

Polygon is also anticipating for a Watch Dogs sequel reveal at E3, reporting that with Ubisoft's big franchise Assassin's Creed taking the year off, the game developer might consider releasing Watch Dogs 2 as a replacement.

With that said, all signs point to a very promising direction, and in a few days, Watch Dogs 2 may be hacking its way in at E3 this year.
