Pokemon GO Raid Battles Update Frustrates Players, Charged Attacks Now More Frequent

In Pokemon GO, raid battles have always been an essential aspect where players can combine efforts to battle uncommon Pokemon that cannot be found in the wild. However, the trainers are also frustrated with such modifications that have occurred with the raid mechanics recently.

The game's developer, Niantic, has made raid bosses use their charged attacks more frequently, which now seems more tedious and uninteresting for some players.

With frequent charged attacks revamped for Raid bosses, some Pokemon GO players are unhappy as to why Niantic made the challenge more difficult.

Niantic has rolled out a packed schedule for September, featuring several exciting raid bosses. Shadow Raikou will appear every weekend, while the Falinks Raid Day takes place on Sept. 8.

The month's Mega Raids are also action-packed, with Mega Absol featured until Sept. 14, Mega Houndoom taking over from Sept. 14 to Sept. 26, and Mega Gardevoir rounding out the month from Sept. 26 to Oct. 4. Additionally, September will showcase Hoenn-themed Raid Hours

All trainers got the chance to battle with Kyogre on Sept. 3 and it will be happening again on September 14. The next legendary to make an appearance will be Groudon, a Hoenn-region star, who will be available from Sept. 18 and Sept. 25.

While these raids are expected to bring excitement, many players noticed significant changes in raid mechanics during their encounters with Kyogre, sparking concerns among the community.

Increased Frequency of Charged Attacks: A New Challenge

According to GameRant, the most notable change involves the frequency of raid bosses using charged attacks, making battles more difficult.

A Reddit user, Entire_Pineapple4732, highlighted the issue, noting that Pokemon GO bosses like Kyogre now unleash charged attacks more often, creating an unexpected challenge for players.

According to the post, Niantic has tweaked the energy generation of raid bosses, allowing them to use powerful moves, such as Blizzard, much more frequently. This shift has made battles, especially against powerful Pokemon like Kyogre, harder for trainers to survive.

In another Reddit post, players described the grueling experience of battling Kyogre, with one user stating that the Legendary Pokemon used Blizzard "every two seconds." This relentless barrage of attacks led to teams being wiped out quickly, forcing players to continuously revive their Pokemon throughout the raid.

Community Reactions: Players Struggle with Raid Difficulty

In fact, the Pokemon GO community has expressed their dissatisfaction with such changes ask for more older models. It is a known fact that most of the trainers, even those with high-level Pokemon and effective counters have been unable to finish raids.

One Redditor shared that a team of five level 40 players barely defeated Kyogre, despite using optimal counters. Another user recounted how it took a group of eight people to take down Kyogre, with multiple revives needed throughout the battle. Even with 80 seconds remaining, they still found it difficult to complete the raid due to the frequent use of charged moves.

Niantic's Response: Will More Changes Come?

Niantic has acknowledged the player's frustration surrounding raid difficulties through their official support Twitter account. They confirmed that the frequency of charged attacks had been increased but noted that they have since reduced it slightly.

Despite this, many players argue that the changes haven't been noticeable in battles, with raid bosses still using their charged moves far too frequently.

The same Twitter post hinted that more adjustments may be made in future updates to balance the difficulty of raids.

For now, however, trainers continue to voice their concerns, hoping that Niantic will take further action to improve the raid experience.
