This year's Electronics Entertainment Expo is fast approaching, and the rumor buzz is getting louder each day. A lot of people are expecting the new Playstation model to be at E3, despite having no official word from Sony.

So what could fans expect from the PS Neo (PS4.5)? Here are some of the things fans will be expecting to see.

VR Capabilities

IGN reported that the PS4 Neo was made primarily because VR on a launch PS4 was "truly awful", according to an anonymous chief technical officer.

"If you want to deal with crazy requirements for performance in VR," the CTO said in an interview with Edge Magazine, "you absolutely have to [introduce new hardware]."

Alphr speculates that it is possible that Sony has rushed the PS Neo production in time for E3 for the Playstation VR.

PS4 Neo Will Probably Use AMD Chips

Multiple reports have shown that the new Playstation console will potentially use AMD Chips. According to MCV, AMD has hinted three upcoming console launches, citing semi-custom system-on-chip (SOC) "wins" as the reason for the company's increased revenue. One of them could well be the PS Neo.

PS4 Neo Will be Very Powerful

The launch PS4 can run most games at 1080p resolution at 60fps. Running at 4K resolution, however, requires a huge upgrade, and the PS4 Neo is expected to have that upgrade.

In a report by Digital Foundry, the new PS4 will use the same CPU as the launch model, but will have its eight Jaguar cores clocked to 2.1GHz instead of 1.6GHz. The memory will also be upgraded from 8GB GDDR5 at 176GB/sec to the same amount of memory at 218GB/sec.

The GPU will also have a major overhaul, increasing the PS4's 18 Radeon compute units at 800MHz to 36 units at 911MHz, which will bring a huge 2.3 FLOPs increase.

PS4 Neo Might Be Launched Sooner Than We Expect

GameStop's COO Tony Bartel might have spilled the beans about the PS4 Neo's release date.

"We are very pleased to see the introduction of technology like virtual reality and rumoured new console launches," Bartel said. "Some of which seem imminent."

Alphr speculates that "imminent" might mean it's coming before next year.

Will fans see the PS4 Neo in action soon? We will find out next week at E3.
