According to reports, GameStop CEO hinted that PlayStation 4.5 Neo will be out earlier than we expected. However, the company now clarified the speculations regarding J. Paul Raines' interview.

With Xbox One S hitting stores this coming August 2, it is possible that Sony's PlayStation 4.5 Neo will be following and will be out the same year. No dates were specified, but rumors suggested that the system will be out soon as per Raines' statements.

In a recent interview on CNBC, Raines was asked as to what the consumers can expect this coming holiday. Nintendo NX was mentioned in the interview, but Raines clarified that NX isn't due to be released until 2017.

Techradar even suggested that Nintendo's plan is to release Nintendo NX in 2017, supporting Raine's statement regarding the next console in Nintendo's line.

After making statements regarding the NX, Raines made a follow-up with the other two upcoming consoles namely Xbox One S and PlayStation 4.5 Neo. Microsoft's smaller Xbox One package is already set to be released next month.

"Yes, there will be a new Nintendo console launch in March 2017," Raines said. "But remember, there are two different form factors: a PS4 Neo and an Xbox One new slim version. So there will be some activity and upgrades, along with the VR" Raines said in the interview.

However, with these clear statements, rumors around Raines mentioning PlayStation 4.5 Neo's release started circling the online community. GameStop was quick to slam this speculation.

"Paul did not say that Xbox One S and PlayStation Neo hardware units would be coming for the holidays. The anchor was the one who referenced the holiday period," GameStop's director of corporate communications told GameSpot today.

"Paul simply reminded him that there would be hardware upgrades coming--Xbox One S and PlayStation Neo. He did not give a reference as to the timing on when they would be launching."
