The console wars is now in full swing as the biggest names in the games industry slowly reveal what their own warrior can bring to the table. Here are some of the latest news about the Xbox One Scorpio, PS4.5 Neo, and the Nintendo NX.
The Nintendo NX Will Be A Portable, Handheld Console
The latest news to come out about the Nintendo NX is that this upcoming console will be a portable, handheld console with detachable controllers, according to Eurogamer sources.
Sources confirmed that Nintendo's upcoming console will be a high-powered handheld with its own display. What makes it unique is that the controllers on either side of the screen can be removed and attached as required.
The system can also be hooked up to the TV at home, allowing big screen gaming.
Apart from this, multiple sources has also said that the console will be using cartridge-based media instead of the usual discs.
Xbox One Scorpio Might Come With Hefty $499 Price Tag
With a rumored 6 teraflops of GPU, 4K and VR gaming, the price of Microsoft's upcoming Xbox One Scorpio may well go up to $700, according to Valuewalk.
However, this may be a steep price for a console, and Microsoft would have to give the machine a consumer-friendly price, despite the high-end PC gaming specs. Considering this, Microsoft would have to go within the $499 pricing range.
This was the same going price when Xbox One was launched in 2013, Endgadget reported.
PS4 Neo Not Coming Out In August?
Gamestop CEO J. Paul Raines implied a 2016 release date window of the PS4 Neo during a recent appearance on CNBC.
"Yes, there will be a new Nintendo console launch in March 2017," Raines said on the show. "But remember, there are two different form factors: a PS4 Neo and an Xbox One new slim version. So there will be some activity and upgrades, along with the VR."
Gamestop has since confirmed that Raines was not talking about the PS4 Neo release date at all, according to Gamespot.
"Paul did not say that Xbox One S and PlayStation Neo hardware units would be coming for the holidays," GameStop's director of corporate communications said. "The anchor was the one who referenced the holiday period."
