Ubisoft has officially announced that "Beyond Good and Evil 2" is in development, but rumor has it that the much awaited game could possibly be a Nintendo NX exclusive.
The French publisher has openly announced its support for the upcoming Nintendo console. Not only is the publisher excited for its release, it is also developing a few titles for it.
During this year's E3 conference, Ubisoft has announced that its popular party game "Just Dance 2017" will be coming out for the NX next year. Head of EMEA Alain Corre also said that there are other titles in the works for Nintendo's new machine.
"Nintendo is a fantastic powerhouse of brands that are really cherished by a lot of fans and families," Corre told Gamesindustry.biz. "I am still impressed by the reoccurrence of success and appetite even today for the Nintendo franchises on the current system."
Ubisoft has not specifically revealed any titles for the NX apart from "Just Dance 2017," but fans have speculated that the publisher may have plans of bringing the sequel to "Beyond Good & Evil" to the rumored portable console. Not only that, it looks like the game is rumored to be an exclusive title for the new system, according to Game Transfers.
Another rumor is that "Beyond Good and Evil 2" will not be a full blown sequel, and will be a reboot of sorts, according to a report by letsplayvideogames.com.
"According to our source, the currently planned direction for the game is that it will partially retell Jade's origin tale from 'Beyond Good & Evil', flesh out Peyj's backstory, then continue to extrapolate on the ending of the original game," LPVG reported.
The site's source also said that a CG trailer for the game is in the works, and will be shown alongside the Nintendo NX reveal, sparking further speculations about the game being Nintendo NX exclusive.
