While there isn't any clue as to when the Nintendo NX will actually be revealed and released, speculations point to an October 21 reveal date for a lot of valid reasons.
According to a recent post from Squish Turtle, Nintendo is likely to reveal the Nintendo NX, the company's latest and most anticipated console, this coming October 21. It is believed that the the announcement will be included in an online pre-recorded broadcast called "Nintendo Direct."
Based from the report, the possibility of Nintendo announcing the console on such date is very high due to the fact that it would be the day that it was exactly five years when Nintendo Direct first went online. It was Nintendo's outlet for promoting games.
The format was well-received and is still an on-going feature for Nintendo console and handheld owners. It somewhat replaced announcements being made on bigger events like E3.
There have been a number of October Nintendo Direct features like last year's "Animal Crossing: New Leaf," which was then followed by the Wii U console update. On the same day back in 2013, the "mini Direct" was also introduced.
There hasn't been any real information directly taken from Nintendo's side regarding the NX's existence or even its progress, but its very likely that the company will take time to introduce the fans to its upcoming piece of entertainment soon.
While Nintendo targets March 2017 as the release date for the Nintendo NX, a lot of fans can't help but somehow doubt the accuracy of this forecast. Most especially with the fact that its just less than 3 months before the year ends and nothing major has been announced for the new console.
Nintendo might have missed the October Nintendo Direct last year due to the untimely passing of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, but the company could make things right this month by honoring Iwata with his envisioned project.
