Tokyo Game Show 2016 is now happening and though it may not weird out people, Nintendo NX and its absence in the said event could spell something not very good for the console's future.
With the complete list of exhibitors for the said event which spans three days, no trace of Nintendo was found and there's exactly no hint of Nintendo NX at all. Not exactly hype inducing as it used to before, but Tokyo Game Show 2016 had a lot to showcase like "The Last Guardian,' "Gravity Rush 2," "Persona 5" and more.
Based on Nintendo's behavior for the last couple of years, it really isn't surprising that the company does not hint its fans of its upcoming console. It isn't also something new for Nintendo, not attending the Tokyo Game Show.
What might really bother some anticipating fans is the fact that Nintendo never had a knack of announcing release dates for its consoles way too many months ahead of its planned release date as it was also reported by The Verge.
As the report from the news site's no-nonsense take on the situation, Nintendo NX would benefit the most with the Tokyo Game Show 2016 with the world's media as well as a heck lot of consumers' eyes are glued to the event. This was the case before with the Wii's controller way back 2005, which showed satisfying results for the console itself.
This also affects third party developers working on NX titles, which can't go out yet due to the console still missing the media attention it should be running with now. Not being able to announce games ahead of time before the consoles actual release will limit its exposure and potential hype.
Nintendo is free to announce or reveal more information about its upcoming NX console through one of its Nintendo Direct broadcasts, but it may not cut it. This may bring skepticism to people who are looking forward to a March release.
Worse case scenario, it may even suffer the same consequence that the Wii U had to go through due to the lack of proper timing in revealing the console plus the naming convention.
