Square Enix has announced that it will be showcasing its popular Tomb Raider franchise at this year's E3.
The game developer giant has announced on its first "Road to E3" blog that the team is gearing up for some exciting Tomb Raider news. The company has now revealed that it will be paying homage to its action-adventure series, as Tomb Raider celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Square Enix, together with Crystal Dynamics, has prepared tons of activities for the Tomb Raider series, both online and on E3. The company has announced that the Square Enix booth will be having customized Tomb Raider dog tags engraved with the 20-year logo (whether this will be given away or be sold, it was not made clear). Square Enix also confirmed that they will also present the dog tags on other global events throughout the year, giving a chance for international fans to participate.
Tomb Raider will also be part of Square Enix's annual broadcast "Square Enix Presents", and will be taking fans through memory lane with a nostalgic look at fan-favorite tombs from the past twenty years. The show schedule will be revealed before E3. Square Enix has also encouraged fans to share their favorite Tomb Raider moments online, using the hashtag #TombRaider20.
A Tomb Raider fan art contest is also launched, giving budding artists a chance to win $1,000 and a chance to be featured in upcoming art prints. Click on this link (Tomb Raider Art Contest) to check the details.
Fans are still waiting for the PS4 port of the latest Tomb Raider title, Rise of the Tomb Raider. It was said to be scheduled for release late 2016, with Crystal Dynamics' exclusivity deal with Microsoft coming to an end.
Tomb Raider is one of the iconic game franchises in history, spawning 11 mainline titles, two blockbuster films and four novels.
