"Civilization VI" took the same principles from the previous installment, "Civilization V," and has improved on them, such as expanding empires, discovering technology and spreading religion. However, it's not without its downsides, as a review by PC Powerplay has discussed.

One of the most notable improvements in the game is the new builder units. It's pretty much similar to the previous installment, but with two major differences: they build tile improvements automatically and they only have three charges before they are depleted. This means the early game setup is accelerated.

Another improvement that was made is the Barbarians, which are now a major threat in the game. It can now wipe out emerging capital if players fail to invest in military units. This will prompt players to hunt down Barbarians and set-up perimeter defenses in their bases.

The game also adopted a religious victory condition in which gamers can be victorious by becoming the dominant religion of every civilization. Spreading the same is now improved with apostles and inquisitors who can now engage enemy religious units in theological battles.

Meanwhile, there were also some downsides to the game mentioned. One is the AI, in which becomes inconsistent and erratic compared to the previous title. Next is the user interface wherein too much information is hidden in hard-to-find sub-menus. Players may find themselves spending too much time looking for a specific item that should be easier shown on the menus in the first place, such as the unit XP bar.

Overall, the many downsides of the game may be fixed with a patch or two, but doesn't give away the fact that this game is still enjoyable to play. Additionally, it would be interesting to see new features and mechanics in the future.
