Innovative Japanese video game designer and producer Hideo Kojima is renowned for creating the action-adventure stealth game "Metal Gear" and other entries in the franchise. However, Kojima left Konami in 2015, and the producer has recently talked about his time with the company has changed him as a person.

In an interview with Newsbeat, Kojima revealed that he believes that one day, games novels, and films will "merge into one type of entertainment." He added that Kojima Productions, a video game development studio that the producer founded in 2005, "want to be there when that time comes, to help show people a new kind of experience." Kojima and his team are "already preparing for that future, but first we're focusing on our next game."

Kojima did not talk much about the 30 years he spent working for Konami, but he shared that he is still grateful for everything that he "gained from that experience." The designer and producer added that he now has more freedom because at Konami Productions, he makes the final decisions.

Since the company is "not listed on the stock exchange," Kojima is also not worried about having to please investors. Because of this, everyone at Kojima Productions "can just concentrate on making good games."

Kojima also talked about how people are becoming too busy to devote time to various media and that more individuals are looking to media that can combine certain elements together. At Kojima Productions, the producer's team is devoting their time to making a game that will allow people to "engage in something that combines different forms of entertainment together."

Kojima hopes that in the future, movies can be playable and games will allow players to choose "more extended movie-like content within them." He is also currently working on "Death Stranding," an upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive game. Guillermo del Toro, who co-directed P.T., the canceled "Silent Hills" playable teaser, will also appear as a character in the upcoming open world action video game, per GameSpot.
