All Samsung Galaxy S25 models are flashed in the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 presentation, but some fans wonder why there's a missing variant in the lineup. It turns out that what they're asking for is some information about the rumored Galaxy S25 Edge.
A Chinese listing has already confirmed its charging speed. Is it the rumored Galaxy S25 Slim that we know months ago?
Galaxy S25 Edge: A New Style to the Lineup
Even though Samsung did not give much official information about the Galaxy S25 Edge during its Unpacked event, it allowed media attendees to have a peep glimpse at it. According to Android Police, the Galaxy S25 Edge is designed to be a premium for those users who would want a slimmer, stylish phone without sacrificing performance.
The new device should consequently be in line with users who want a sleeker, minimalistic design but still pack all the high-end features for which Samsung is recognized.
Unlike the other S25 models, the Edge will only offer two rear cameras, a great deviation from the more advanced multi-camera setups featured in the Ultra and Plus. It would indicate that the S25 Edge is targeted toward users who would like a much more compact and simpler device and do not necessarily want the bulk or complexity that comes with having multiple cameras on the back.
Galaxy S25 Edge Battery & Charging Leaked Details
One of the first leaks regarding the Galaxy S25 Edge comes from the 3C certification website, which reveals some important details about the device's battery and charging capabilities.
In accordance with the leak, the Galaxy S25 Edge will come with a 3,900 mAh battery—a slightly lower capacity than the base Galaxy S25, which sports a 4,000mAh battery.
The S25 Edge still has a relatively smaller battery but can support 25W wired charging, GSM Arena finds in a Chinese database listing. The same charging speed that the base S25 model enjoys does not require users to splurge on fast-charging features, making for quick power-ups without breaking the bank.
Unfortunately, there's no word on wireless charging just yet, so it remains to be seen whether fans will want this feature to come along for the ride in the months ahead.
Is the Galaxy S25 Edge Underpowered?
The S25 Edge features a slightly smaller battery capacity than that of the Galaxy S25's base model. However, its performance should be just as close because the device has been fitted with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
Expected in the other S25 variants, this processor is a behemoth of processing power and silky-smooth operation, delivering cutting-edge functionality at its best.
However, since the S25 Edge is expected to be a thinner device, it is speculated that Samsung may opt for the 7-core variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This version of the chipset is designed to be more energy-efficient and better manage heat, which is crucial for a slim design that doesn't have the space for an oversized cooling system. As a result, users can expect solid performance while optimizing battery life.
What's In Store for the Galaxy S25 Edge
The unveiling of the Galaxy S25 Edge is reportedly expected in April 2025, but nothing has been officially released from Samsung. Anticipating the release date, we should continue to see leaks that present a clearer picture of what to expect from this interesting new Galaxy device.
For now, it looks more like a slightly compact and slick version that promises the users that there will be a balance between mobility and performance. So while not able to give even remotely similar feature packs compared to its big brother the S25 Ultra, this must have given solid and reliable usage in design perfect for minimalist enthusiasts.
