The South Ayrshire coastline has once again been transformed into a charming film set for "Outlander" season 3. A US production crew has already arrived in the village of Dunure to set up a line of wooden 1743 buildings.
It is expected that fans are likely to visit the harbor for a chance to see the "Outlander" season 3 pair Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. Both cast members have not arrived yet, but the Daily Record UK reports that filming is due to take place at the weekend.
Meanwhile, extras for the smash hit TV series have been scheduled to show up on Monday. Passersby, on the other hand, have already taken a glimpse of all the props to be used in "Outlander" season 3, of which includes fishing baskets, barrels, and carts. Wooden structures have been erected on the brick fronts at the harbor as well.
To recall, the village of Dunure was used last year when Kennedy Park was transformed into an "Outlander" set. "I am delighted at the wisdom of the network for choosing Dunure," Councilor Bill Grant, responsible for the council's tourism, said. "The backdrop with the castle and the rugged coastline is fabulous. We are delighted they have chosen South Ayrshire to do the filming. We also have a fantastic choice of eateries and accommodation for the cast."
Diana Gabaldon, author of the books where "Outlander" season 3 is being based on, has previously revealed that the production team had to sacrifice their holidays to hasten the filming process. Their break, according to The Scottish Sun, was cut from six weeks to just a fortnight.
After the "Outlander" season 3 cast and crew finish their stint in Scotland, they will set off for South Africa to finish filming, which should happen some time in May. The new season will begin with the Battle of Culloden in Scotland for Sam's character Jamie, and a flashback for Caitriona's Claire in Boston, US.
