Valkyria: Azure Revolution is set to be released physically and digitally for PS4 and Xbox One, but only digitally for PS Vita in North America via Sega and Europe via Deep Silver. It will also be dubbed as "Valkyria Revolution" in the west.

Although the game has not released any specific date, one thing is for sure: it will be ready for release by spring of 2017, according to a Playstation Blog post. Some are also speculating that it will be released from April through June next year.

Valkyria Revolution is placed in an alternate universe based on the European industrialization era. It will no longer feature the traditional turn-based combat strategy of the series as it will adapt a new fusion of real-time combat and tactical strategy mechanics. Given how immensely diverse the series is; the new name helps guarantee that both will stand equal, but separately from each other, according to Sega.

The game is about five long-time friends who led an entire continent to war, sacrificing thousands of lives for personal revenge filled with utter hate and lies. The five will combine forces and use their power to oppose its oppressors. Players will get to experience firsthand the war that will unfold between the five and its enemies.

A wide variety of features will be included in Valkyria Revolution, some of which is the new battle system that combines real-time battle and tactical approach. Players will get to take control of the battlefield, commanding troops and machineries as they take on various empires. Players can also upgrade and customize their weapons over the course of the game. Famous for his take on Chrono Trigger's soundtrack, composer Yasunori Mitsuda is also back with a track in Valkyria Revolution.

Valkyria Revolution will not just be any chapter in the Valkyria Chronicle series; it can be considered as a whole new game with a whole new world, a wide range of new characters, and new gameplay technicalities.
