Sony's PlayStation 4 had a lot of success since its release, making Microsoft's Xbox One kind of outdated. But with Project Scorpio, their latest console, it would beat the famous PlayStation 4. The forthcoming console is hinted to be released in Christmas of 2017, but there is no official launch date yet.
Project Scorpio is an improved rendition of its predecessor, Xbox One. It features major hardware upgrades such as 4K gameplay, as well as making virtual reality hardware support as its focus. All existing Xbox One hardware and software will be compatible with Project Scorpio.
The projected price for Scorpio is $350 to $500. Normally, price ranges are somehow announced with its product's release date or 2 weeks in advance. This made some people wonder why it was announced earlier. On the contrary, Xbox chief Phil Spencer pointed out that it is really too early to announce, but he want customers to have more options on which console to buy with enough details as probable --- letting then decide whether to buy something else or wait for the offical release of Scorpio and at the same time, convey a message to developers that they can make games for it as well.
He wants it to have a console price-point, not trying to go and compete with other high-end consoles' prices. The key for the Xbox team is to develop a console that delivers on the promise of 4K gaming experience without forfeiting the affordability of a console, according to GAMENGUIDE.
It was also presumed that Project Scorpio will be slightly expensive than standard consoles, approximately between £350 and £500 --- the same with Xbox One's price when it was first released. This high-end pricing might not be that surprising since it has native 4k output and VR capabilities at least, PC Advisor reported.
