Publisher Deep Silver may reveal new "Dead Island 2" details at this year's Gamescom.

There has been no news about the latest action survival horror game since developer Sumo Digital's takeover from Yager Development in March.

Fans are speculating that a reveal is planned for "Dead Island 2" at Gamescom this year. Deep Silver will have a prominent presence at the popular game trade show next month.

The publisher will be occupying several booths at Gamescom on both Hall 4.2 and Hall 9.1. With this information, there is a small possibility that "Dead Island 2" will also be present at the event, along with a slew of other upcoming titles.

The first demo gameplay was also released at Gamescom two years ago when Yager Development was still at the helm. Yager has since been dropped out from the project in July 2015 and has filed for insolvency the same month, according to MCV.

As mentioned earlier, the game is now being developed by Sumo Digital, the developers behind Microsoft Studios' "Crackdown 3" and "Forza Horizon 2."

"Dead Island 2" was rumored to be cancelled earlier this year when the game was removed from Steam in May, according to Hardcore Gamer. However, Deep Silver assured fans that the game is still in development.

Until now, there is no sure release date for "Dead Island 2," and it is speculated that the game will not be out in time for the planned 2016 release window.

Gamescom is happening at Cologne, Germany on August 17 - 21, and the trade show will be open to the public starting the August 18.

In other news, Deep Silver will be busy localizing games from Atlus and Sega to Europe, including "Persona 5," "Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse," and "7th Dragon III Code: VFD." The publisher will also be releasing the Kickstarter-backed Metroidvania game "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night."
