British Pokemon masters can now get in on the fun as Niantic Labs officially announced the release of "Pokemon GO" in the UK today.

After a long wait, Pokefans in the UK can now download the popular augmented-reality app for Android and iOS, Eurogamer reported.

"Pokemon GO" has taken the world by storm, smashing the record for the most downloaded app ever, and could surpass the number of downloads for popular photo-sharing app Snapchat very soon, according to Fortune.

The app is now even more popular than dating app Tinder and used more often than Twitter.

Niantic Lab's runaway hit app was first rolled out in Australia, New Zealand and the US, and with the app now being released in Germany and the UK, it is only a matter of time before the app takes over the rest of the world.

The game was supposedly released in Europe and Asia a few days after the initial launch in the three countries mentioned above, however, due to massive server issues, Niantic Labs was forced to "pause" its international rollout until they are able to get the servers running smoothly.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the full-scale release for "Pokemon GO" will happen "in a few days." This information was reportedly from "people familiar with plans for the game."

With the recent release of the popular app in the UK, other countries now anticipate giddily for their turn.

"Pokemon GO" is such a huge hit that Hollywood studios are scrambling to get a movie deal out of the hype, Gamespot reported.

Legendary Pictures, the same studio responsible for "The Hunger Games" and the most recent video game adaptation "Warcraft," is "moving toward a deal to make a live-action "Pokemon" movie, according to Deadline.
