The popular augmented-reality mobile game "Pokemon GO" is due to be released in European and Asian countries "in a few days," a report has claimed.

The overnight hit mobile game has swept the nation, sending people out of their homes to chase and catch Pokemon. Unfortunately, not all people can join in on the fun yet, as it is only available in the US, Australia and New Zealand at the moment.

However, The Wall Street Journal reported that "Pokemon GO" is due to be rolled out in Europe and Asia "within a few days." According to The Verge, the publication cited "people familiar with plans for the game," but there are no official statements from Niantic Labs about it.

Niantic Labs has momentarily "paused" the rollout of "Pokemon GO" to other countries due to server issues. People complained about servers not loading, being forced to log in multiple times, and some are even being locked out of their accounts.

Niantic CEO John Hanke said that the company has apparently underestimated the game's huge popularity.

"We thought the game would be popular, but it obviously struck a nerve," Hanke told Business Insider.

Unfortunately for aspiring Pokemon trainers outside the three initial countries, the CEO confirmed that no further rollouts will be done unless the major server issues are fixed, and will continue when the company is "comfortable."

Because of the delayed rollout, people in other countries who are desperate to get their hands on the game resorted to other workarounds. In Canada, for example, iOS users were able to download the app by signing in using a US-based iTunes account.

Android users, on the other hand, resorted to downloading APK installers for "Pokemon GO," which puts them at risk of installing malware on their phones, as we have reported on a separate article.

There is currently no official updates for a Canadian and South American release date for "Pokemon GO."
