The upcoming LG G4 is one of the most hotly-anticipated smartphones of this year, and a new leak now claims to have more information on its processor.

LG decided to skip the crowded Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 and unveil its new-generation flagship smartphone at a later date. The LG G4 is expected to make its debut soon, and rumors and leaks so far have painted quite an exciting picture.

One aspect in particular, however, might be disappointing to some. If the latest leaks turn out to be accurate, the upcoming LG G4 will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood, not the more powerful Snapdragon 810.

Previous rumors had indicated that Qualcomm has not been able to solve the overheating issues of its Snapdragon 810 chip, and LG was considering using the Snapdragon 808 instead. The latest leak now bolsters such claims, as an alleged screenshot shows the upcoming LG G4 with a Snapdragon 808 chipset on board.

The insider confirms the theory that LG preferred to go with the Snapdragon 808 because of the overheating issues affecting the Snapdragon 810. On the other hand, LG has already launched its LG G Flex 2 with the Snapdragon 810 on board, and said at the time that it would not pose any issues.

Nevertheless, if the latest leak turns out to be accurate, the next-generation LG G4 will pack a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood, consisting of a quad core clocked at 1440 MHz and a dual core clocked at 384 MHz.

The LG G4 would still be quite powerful even with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood, albeit some fans were (are) expecting more horsepower. At the same time, there's also a chance that this image is not accurate, or that it refers to some watered-down version of the smartphone (LG G4 Lite, maybe?). It could also refer to a totally different smartphone altogether, although it's unlikely. Nevertheless, nothing is officially confirmed at this point so it's all based solely on leaks and speculation so far.

It remains to be seen just what specifications the LG G4 will boast when it makes it official debut, but it's best to take everything with a grain of salt until a formal announcement.
