Giant social networking site, Facebook, announces a new app coming to smart TVs. During the Code Media conference held at the Ritz-Cartlon in Dana Point, California, Facebook Vice President of Partnerships Dan Rose announced the new innovation.

Facebook doesn't only want to exist on computers and mobile, but it also wants to make a way to run on every major digital device. According to Rose, this connected video app for TV will roll out in a few weeks for Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV, Amazon Fire TV, and eventually for other smart TV brands, too.

This new Facebook video app will let users watch any video on a bigger screen from the social network, whether it is previously saved, shared, uploaded, recommended by news feed, shared by friends or streamed live. However, even if it is played on a bigger screen, the quality of every video will still depend on the original quality uploaded on site.

According to a 9 To 5 Mac report, the app was first teased in February. Aside from the given information, Facebook hasn't announced how to use this app and what others features are included.

Meanwhile, Forbes noted that the new Facebook video app is not company's first venture into smart TVs. In 2016, using devices like the Google Chromecast, the company made it possible for users to stream and watch videos from the social media onto their TVs. Although they are building products for TVs, Rose said that the company will remain a mobile-first company.

As mentioned, the new Facebook video app will release soon. Users can expect more information and details including the app's price, instructions, additional features and build details in the coming weeks.
