Season 3 of competitive play for "Overwatch" is coming to an end soon. After two and a half months, top players will be awarded by Blizzard. The fourth season will also come before the game's first anniversary in May.
According to "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan, they have decided to end the 3rd season of "Overwatch" this February. There are no specific dates yet, but it will be after the Valentine's Day.
"Usually, seasons end one week before the start of the month -- so roughly expect the same here," Kaplan said, noted by Express. Since Blizzard is planning to kick off "Overwatch" season 4 of competitive play in March, it is highly likely that the third season will end by February 22 or sometime around that date. This will give the developers a chance to polish everything from season 3 such as players placements and for season 4.
Fans should also watch out for several changes happening to "Overwatch" this March. The announcement as to what they are will be coming in the next few days. Apparently, Blizzard is planning on having four seasons of competitive play for the shooter game. Since the third one is ending, it gives plenty more time for another season before "Overwatch" turns one in May.
Of course, just like every end of a competitive season, there are prizes for top "Overwatch" players. According to PVP Live, these prizes include competitive points, player icons and a collection of sprays. Competitive points can be used to purchase golden weapon skins for any "Overwatch" character. Apparently, the theme for this season's prizes is Volskaya.
Moreover, top 500 "Overwatch" players will be invited to the professional "Overwatch" Discord. This could give them a chance to be a part of professional teams. They will receive unique prizes as well.
This past week has given a lot of changes to the game's PTR. Characters have also been changed, with the biggest buff going to Bastion. With the changes, "Overwatch" players can still grind to achieve higher placements.
