The PS4 Pro Boost Mode is said to have the ability to boost performance for certain titles by up to 38%.

Sony's PS4 console's software update version 4.5 is expected to introduce a feature called "Boost Mode" which is also introduced as "Beast Mode". The said mode allows unpatched games to enjoy much better performance on the PlayStation 4 Pro. Noticeable improvements are purportedly being shown on recent gameplay videos.

The "Boost Mode" in PS4's update appeared to offer impressive performance gains for unpatched titles on the PS4 Pro as shown on Eurogamer's Digital Foundry video while testing the mode. Check out the video below:

It is worth noting that the improvements in boost mode may possibly vary from insignificant to very big. However, the overall end result seems to be "highly important" for PS4 Pro owners.

When it regards to some games, "Killzone Shadow Fall" and "Knack" are said only benefit from a 14% performance gain. However, for EA's "Battlefield 4" and Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed Unity" performance, it's way better in "Boost Mode". The most significant performance increases were observed in "Assetto Corsa", "Project Cars", and "F1 2016", with Project Cars apparently performing up to 38% better in Boost Mode.

How does Boost Mode eventually work? It is said to work by boosting the GPU and CPU power while simultaneously increasing memory performance. Sony further explained that the Boost Mode delivers a noticeable frame-rate boost to certain games with flexible frame-rate, and can provide frame-rate constancy for games that are reportedly programmed to run at 30Hz or 60Hz. On the other hand, Sony has unveiled new details for its new system software 4.5 update which includes long-awaited support for external hard drives.

Based on these testing results, the PS4 Pro's Boost Mode appears to be really valuable and seemingly like a game-changer for unpatched titles. Boost Mode will be arriving with the PS4 4.5 software update in the near future.
