Bungie's hit first-person shooter, "Destiny" has been subject to all sorts of rumors in the past and now, the rumor mill is up and running at full force and churning out new speculations around the title's purported sequel.
New details about the highly anticipated sequel to "Destiny" allegedly entitled, "Destiny 2: Forge of Hope" have surfaced online thanks to a Redditor known as Inside_Leaks. If the recently surfaced details are anything to go by, the upcoming sequel to "Destiny" could be released this year.
The Reddit user details several elements including the story that "Destiny 2: Forge of Hope" is expected to center on, release date and the characters that are likely to make an appearance in the sequel.
As far as characters are concerned, a rumor running rampant online last year suggested that Bungie will not allow players to transfer their classic Guardians to the sequel.
'Destiny 2' Latest Leaks & Rumors
The sequel is expected to come bearing "Destiny 2: Forge of Hope" moniker; however, taking titles that generally work for the expansions into consideration, this seems to be quite an unconventional choice. Nevertheless, since the series is slated to undergo a radical overhaul, the new title may just be plausible.
The leaked story details echo previous reports that suggested "Destiny 2" will revolve around chronological events following the Fall 2015 Expansion dubbedThe Taken King. The cabal forces invade the city leaving the inhabitants and mentors of the tower helpless. Now, it is up to the guardian to ward off the cabal and rehabilitate the city.
In the process, the guardians will bump into the stories of Queen Mara Sov and The Exo Stranger's motives that have gone astray. Moreover, the tipster suggests Bungie is gearing up to roll out massive content updates for each quarter, something similar to the April update.
A major expansion that is slated to release in Fall 2018 is already in the works, according to the tipster. Although details are scarce, the said expansion is likely to focus on the Vex as well as the Origins of Kabr and Praydeth."
Aside from that, Bungie will be setting up an event release every 1-2 months based on an "Overwatch"-inspired theme while rolling out new narrative paths and gameplay mechanics simultaneously. The overhaul will get rid of all existing characters; however, on the brighter side, this will pave the way for more customization character creation such as tattoos, facial hear and class themed face paint.
'Destiny 2: Forge of Hope' Release Date
According to the tipster, "Destiny's" upcoming sequel will hit store shelves in Q4 2017; Nov. 4 - 18, to be more precise. The game will be up for grabs on a slew of platforms including PS4, PS4 Pro, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Scorpio, with three editions for the players to choose from, according to VG247.
While the basic edition is expected to come bearing some sort of pre-order bonus, the second one will have an in-game cosmetic in addition to the pre-order bonus, and the third edition will not only include the pre-order bonus and in-game cosmetic, but it will also boast a "1:2 Scale of the Exo Strangers Relic of Necessity."
Bungie has neither confirmed nor denied these speculations. However, Bungie's Eric "Urk" Osborne recently debunked the title "Forge of Hope" via a tweet. This is not the first time Bungie is denying a rumor, which have actually come to fruition. For instance, a "Destiny" fan pointed to the same thing Osborne said about "Rise of Iron."
