"Hunter X Hunter" has been on hiatus since July 2016 and its creator Yoshihiro Togashi has been silent on the manga series' status although he was seen in some of the Japanese manga events such as the event in October 2016. There have been speculations as well that the manga series chapter 361 might be launched sometime in late 2017 contrary to the previous reports that it might make a comeback this month.
Additionally, reports say that the series is likely to make a comeback this year as Weekly Shonen Jump reportedly told Togashi to begin issuing new chapters or they will get someone else to write it. While fans are waiting for the return of the manga series, Comic Book suggested at least five anime series that "Hunter X Hunter" fans must watch.
"Yuu Yuu Hakusho"
This may not be thematically similar to "Hunter X Hunter" but they are linked closely in style and aesthetic. They also share the same creator Yoshihiro Togashi.
"Fullmetal Alchemist / FMA: Brotherhood"
This acclaimed anime series also does away with sensational combats for reliable character development. There are also exhilarating action sequences to keep fans on edge.
"The Seven Deadly Sins"
This is a newer anime that shares "Hunter X Hunter" series's humor and impressive world-building. Fans will quickly fall for this Netflix anime smoothly.
"Katekyo Hitman Reborn!"
This one also shares the same surprises with "Hunter X Hunter" that introduces badass heroes. It features two young heroes who follow their leads while they grow in strength and use their extensive journeys to be top heroes.
"Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic"
This anime is full of mystical storylines and packed with action fights. Most notably, the leads of Magi are also entertaining as Gon Freecss tend to be.
