"Friday the 13th: The Game" rapidly became one of the more popular titles anticipated this year. Because of the massive fan base that the movie has acquired, it is almost inevitable that the game will be just as successful -- and triumph can attract attention.

According to a Twitter post, the official site was hacked by an unknown server, with the possibility of redirecting to possible malware. For the time being, the company urges users not to visit the site just yet until further advice.

On a positive note, those who commented on the post believe that such is a sign of the company progressing. The Twitter page implied that they are, indeed, "famous," and is receiving more than interest for what they are doing. When asked if the forums are affected, the page confirmed that it may not have been included in the hack. Nevertheless, other supporters are hoping that all goes accordingly for the Gun Media title.

"Friday the 13th: The Game" is considered one of the most anticipated horror games ever, taking inspiration from the slasher flick of the same title. The story revolves around the hockey mask-wearing mass murderer Jason Voorhees, taking revenge on those who go to the infamous Camp Crystal Lake. After being left to die by the irresponsible counselors of the camp, Jason takes revenge on the counselors in a kill-or-be-killed scenario to survive the night.

Gun Media's Kickstarter project reached and even surpassed its goals of coming into fruition, many thanks to the avid fans of the franchise. The game is slated to launch within 2017, promising a multiplayer mode that will give players either an adrenaline rush, as one of the preyed teenagers or the thrill of the kill as Jason Voorhees himself.
