The upcoming "Friday the 13th: The Game" PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft PC video game has introduced a new custom designed Jason. The new "Friday the 13th: The Game" Jason was designed by Tom Savini.
"Friday the 13th: The Game" was first revealed in 2015. Back then, the PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC game was entitled "Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp."
Video game developer and publisher Gun Media was then able to acquire rights to create and develop a horror video game based on the "Friday the 13th" movies. The rights was acquired through a series of negotiations with Sean S. Cunningham, the director of the hit horror film.
A crowdfunding project was then began for the creation and development of the "Friday the 13th The Game" via Kickstarter and BackerKit. The game was able to generate $1.1million from the crowdfunding effort.
It has already been reported in the past that "Friday the 13th: The Game" will feature a playable Jason character. Though nothing much have been revealed back then, what was certain then was the "Friday the 13th: The Game" Jason will be designed by Tom Savini.
Tom Savini, aside from being an actor and director, is an award-winning special make-up effects creator. Savini was a makeup designer in the first and fourth installations of the "Friday the 13th" movies.
The Savini created "Friday the 13th The Game" Jason was a new and darker take of the infamous killer. Jason was given a Ghost Rider-like look with flames coming out of his hockey mask. The killer was also given a weapon with a large handle, which could either be an axe or a scythe.
No "Friday the 13th: The Game" release date has been announced. The game will reportedly come out in two parts with the first part, which contains the multiplayer mode, scheduled for early 2017. The PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC game's single-player campaign mode is slated to be released summer this year.
