Teams from around the globe are prepping up for the inaugural edition of FIFA Ultimate Team Championships. This "FIFA 17" event is going to kick off on Feb. 4 with a pool prize of $1.3 million.

To recall, "FIFA 17" held a series of weekend qualifying tournaments that served as the qualifier for competing teams. Developers used the in-game FUT Champions mode to proceed into the next stage which is the Regional Premier Qualifier. However, "FIFA 17" Ultimate Team Championships is only limited to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players and no other platforms were allowed.

According to FIFA competitive gaming commissioner Brent Koning, it is easy to gather competing teams since "FIFA 17" has a large fan base of 6 million active players. Most of them have competed in FUT Champions so they were able to weed out qualifiers out of 2,000 players from qualifying tournaments.

"FIFA 17" launched the Ultimate Team Championships to make top players from around the globe to stand out, GameSpot said. In fact, organizers are going to conduct the tournament in separate key locations, much like the real FIFA. Season One regional finals are invading Paris on Feb. 4. Immediately proceeding the event are tours in Sydney and Miami.

The Season Two of Ultimate Team Championships will start on April 8 in Vancouver then proceed to Singapore on April 22. "FIFA 17" will culminate the worldwide event in Madrid on May 6, according to FIFA's official site.

For the finals, "FIFA 17" will sport the top 16 teams which will compete in Berlin on May 20. Make no mistake about it, the World Cup Grand Finals is proceeding thereafter in London at an undisclosed date yet.

Come to think of it, London is one of the biggest player's base for "FIFA 17." The game managed to edge into the top 10 UK sales chart almost at par with hit RPG "Grand Theft Auto 5."
