There are two new operators coming in "Rainbow Six Siege," and one of these protagonist is already taunting what he can do. As the Velvet Shell update unleashes, character Jackal was shown in a brief video.

Multi-platform shooter "Rainbow Six Siege" has released free contents last month and the game is hot in its trail with the advent of the Velvet Shell update. While developers have confirmed that there will be 2 new characters, it is only Jackal who has been briefly teased, while the other character still remains a mystery.

According to GameSpot, Jackal is a unique "Rainbow Six Siege" operator in a sense that he sports tracking ability. Jackal has a head-mounted device that can scan the ground for enemy footprints. It is unclear though if this ability is non-dissipating or a constant ability. If so, Jackal is a valuable asset that can track enemies while other pure combat players take them down.

"Rainbow Six Siege" has made Jackal a great character indeed, but bear in mind that there are instances in the game where his ability might not be as useful. Take for example the Terrorist Hunt where tracking is not really a crucial factor in the gameplay.

There are questions as well on how long does "Rainbow Six Siege" allow footprints to last. The idea is that Jackal might only be useful when footprints are traceable. If footprints "expires," then Jackal might experience a tough time finding them in dynamic gameplay.

Meanwhile, "Rainbow Six Siege" will also sport another character from Grupo Especial de Operaciones or Spain GEO. There are no hints yet about the other character but Year 2 season pass holders are sure to have them soon, PCGamesN said. Non-season pass players can still get the Velvet Shell update although they can only purchase a week after release.

"Rainbow Six Siege" also offers a new resort-themed map, Coastline, which is set in Spain. Again, Ubisoft will launch this new map for free, much like the tradition in Year 1 where players grabbed contents without shelling out cash.
