The upcoming "Tomb Raider" movie adds a new cast member. British actor and "The Wire" star, Dominic West, is joining Alicia Vikander in MGM-Warner Bros. reboot and will be cast as Lara Croft's father.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alicia Vikander is starring as the popular video game character, the archeologist-adventurer Lara Croft. Joining Vikander in the upcoming movie are Walton Goggins (Sons of Anarchy) and Daniel Wu (Warcraft).

This is not the first time Dominic West and Alicia Vikander have worked on the same project. West and Vikander were the stars of the 2014 movie, "Testament of Youth", playing a father-daughter relationship. The upcoming film follows Lara Croft as she sets out on the character's first expedition to finish her father's work and uncover ancient secrets to clear her father's disgraced name.

Lara's father, Lord Richard Croft is a key figure in the movie and is also an aristocrat and archeologist. Jon Voight once played Croft's father from the 2001 film, opposite Angelina Jolie.

Meanwhile, MGM and Warner Bros, acquired the rights from GK Films, which previously purchased the film rights in 2011 from Square Enix Ltd. Graham King is serving As producer and Roar Uthang will direct.

GameSpot reports that "Tomb Raider" director Roar Uthang launched the 2013 reboot game. Uthang said that the upcoming movie will make Lara Croft feel like a real human being. Uthang added that the production wants to make viewers relate to Lara as a character.

Dominic West currently stars on Showtime's series "The Affair" and is airing its third season. West is known for starring on HBO's series "The Wire." Other credits include "Money Monster" and "Genius." West is also repped by WME and Tavistock Wood Management in the UK.

The "Tomb Raider" franchise has sold over 45 million copies worldwide. Paramount's two films starring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft were released 2001 and 2003 respectively and grossed over $432 million box-office worldwide.
