The Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 classic film "Apocalypse Now" is getting a psychological survival horror RPG video game adaptation. The studio American Zoetrope is now dealing with gaming industry personalities.

Coppola recently revealed in a press release that they are teaming up with a game developer who wants to make an interactive version of "Apocalypse Now." He also shared his excitement to explore the possibilities for the title in a new platform that will be enjoyed by a different generation.

"Forty years ago, I set out to make a personal artistic picture that I could hopefully influence the generations of viewers." Coppola said as cited on Reuters. "Now, I'm joined by the veterans in gaming industry, a team who wants to make an interactive version of Apocalypse Now."

In the "Apocalypse Now" video game, players will be taking on the role of Captain Willard as the main protagonist. According to Game Spot, during the game, players will be able to make decisions which may influence the original narrative.

As reported by Variety, "Apocalypse Now" game director Montgomery Markland shared that they will create a game that challenges the interactive experience. "We will bring a better variety of experience and interaction in gaming than is currently available within the relatively static industry," he explained.

The game will rely on crowd funding through a Kickstarter campaign to get it started. The development team predicted a three-year development before the releasing. For those who pledge financial support for the game, Coppola's American Zoetrope will be providing a lot of rewards for them.

The rewards include unique game options as well as props used in the movie, such as the Lt. Col. Wm. Kilgore "Airmobile" surfboard and Col. Kilgore's death cards. Early access to pre-release versions of the game is also one of the rewards for those who wish to support the Kickstarter campaign.
