"Grand Theft Auto" Online is currently in the mid of its popularity among players. However, according to reports and speculations, Rockstar Games may end its support for the game.
A lot of players invested a lot of time and money in the game. With the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2," many gamers and fans are afraid that Rockstar will focus more in this western inspired game, leaving "Grand Theft Auto" Online behind. "Red Dead Redemption 2" is set to be released this year on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
As reported by Yan2295, delays in the work on the next updates of GTA Online could happen since Rockstar North is currently in a reorganization phase. Rockstar San Diego, on the other hand, is currently working on "Red Dead Redemption 2" while the rest of the company is focused on "Grand Theft Auto VI." According to the report, there is also a new project the company is busy working on, but no further details have been released.
As Game Transfer cited, it would not be a surprise if support for "Grand Theft Auto" Online ended. They also claimed that Yan2295 is a reliable source and does not talk nonsense.
However, considering the financial success of "Grand Theft Auto" Online, it seems unlikely that developers will decide to neglect it and lose a good chunk of the proceeds. Since GTA Online is a guaranteed source of income, there is no way they will cut content support for it, in favor of "Red Dead 2".
