Despite the lack of an official announcement, the rumor mill has been swirling all sorts of speculations around the long-rumored sequel to "GTA 5." Let's take a gander at the latest buzz online and what could be in store for "GTA 6."
The internet the is brimming with a slew of theories that suggest "GTA" fans might be in for a really long wait until "GTA 6" hits the store shelves. Multiple sources are attributing the highly anticipated title's delayed arrival to an Autumn 2017 launch of Rockstar Games' equally anticipated western action-adventure video game, "Red Dead Redemption 2."
Not too long ago, a purported Easter Egg was spotted in one of "GTA 5's" sequence of events. As expected, this stirred conversations among "GTA's" huge fanbase, leading to various speculations regarding "GTA 6" release date, the protagonist, location and other details.
A YouTube channel dubbed, Itz Frolickz added more fuel to the already burning rumors about the title's release date. The YouTube channel theorizes that the game developer could have already dropped hints about "GTA 6" release date in the current "GTA" game.
Apparently, a strange door numbering at the airport shown in "GTA 5" may allude to the sequel's release. There are two doors at the airports in "GTA 5" with number marking of 2013 and 2021 respectively. No prizes for guessing, the numbering method is quite unconventional as doors are likely to be marked with consecutive numbers. And what's even more interesting is that the other doors at the airport do not have number markings, aside from the two aforesaid doors.
Itz Frolickz believes the bizarre door numbers might be hinting at the release date for the much-awaited sequel. It can be recalled that "GTA 5" was released back in 2013 and since the other door was marked with "2021," the YouTube channel claim that the sequel would arrive in 2021. However, Rockstar Games has neither confirmed nor denied this speculation.
Meanwhile, another theory running rampant all the over the internet points to a 2020 release date for "GTA 6." Rockstar Games have already notified zealous "GTA" fans that it is currently hard at works on "RDR 2" and the next installment in "GTA" title will not arrive before the company launches the next installment in the Red Dead series. With "Red Dead Redemption 2" scheduled to arrive in Autumn 2017, Rockstar Games has a considerable three-year gap to complete "GTA 6," TechRadar reported.
According to another theory, if the company sticks to the release pattern it has adapted for the "GTA" series, there is a possibility that "GTA 6" could arrive in 2018. Moreover, since both, "RDR 2" and "GTA 6" will be open-world adventures, Rockstar Games might not want to rush one out right after the other, according to ExpertReviews. The publication further suggests that a 2019 or 2020 release might be feasible, though a 2018 launch is not by any stretch of the imagination, out of question.
Furthermore, "GTA 6" is expected to be set in an entirely new location. While various reports continue to suggest that the next "GTA" title might be set in another country other than the United States, it's highly unlikely that Rockstar Games would comply. U.S. locations have been ideal settings for the company's biggest cash cow, after all.
