Japanese developer Arc System Works has been solely focused on a direct sequel to the "Double Dragon" series in "Double Dragon IV." To showcase their hard work, the devs shared some new information on the game's story together with the characters, modes and features it will come with.

Set to be released toward the end of this month, in time to celebrate its 30th anniversary, "Double Dragon IV" will feature the Double Dragon themselves, Billy and Jimmy. "It is a continuation of the story in Double Dragon II: The Revenge, and features all new enemies! Defeat the on-rushing attackers, and try to clear all the stages," according to Arc System Works.

The website also states that "Double Dragon IV" can also be enjoyed with a friend. "When first playing the game, Billy and Jimmy are the only selectable characters, but finishing all stages unlocks Tower Mode. Play this mode to unlock enemy characters for use in Story Mode," its description reads.

"Double Dragon IV's" new Story Mode is a continuation of the story from "Double Dragon 2: The Revenge," featuring new enemies, and a new co-op mode. Tower Mode is a wave-based challenge mode sans continues. Gamers get to battle their way up the tower through which new characters are unlocked as they go. Duel Mode, on the other hand, is an adversarial mode that turns the beat-em-up into a beat-each-other-up, to find out who's better, according GameSpot.

Another great new feature in "Double Dragon IV" is that it will make use of PS4 Share Play. This means that two PlayStation Plus subscribers get to play together for up to one hour, even though only one has purchased the game.

Confirmed characters in the game along with Billy and Jimmy include Williams, Roper, Right Arm, Linda, Abobo, Chin Taimei, Burnov, Linda (mohawk), Mason, Cody, Yamazaki, Soeno, and Ayumi. One character is yet to be revealed!

"Double Dragon IV" will release on January 29 for PS4 and PC. Click through to the official website for more info on Share Play.
