A recent Hardware and Software Survey by Steam commemorates an achievement for Windows 10, which is Windows 10 is now the choice of more than half of Steam users. Both versions of Windows 10 (32 and 64-bit) accounts for 50.35 percent of OS's in the survey, while the old Windows 7 is in the second place at 33.87 percent.
Last September, VentureBeat reported that the OS adoption rate is faster compared to the older versions of Windows, like Windows 7. Making the OS a free upgrade certainly aided to convince users to give it a shot, the percentage was complimented by the inclusion of Win10 Mobile gadgets. Xbox One consoles, and other devices in totality. Though the migration of users to Windows 210 slowed down a bit in the recent months, and the free upgrade ended last July. The previous prediction of one billion installs by 2018 now seems impossible, but the OS is still going strong.
Led by Windows 10 64-bit, and Windows 7 64-bit respectively, the survey continues with the third place, Windows 8.1 64-bit at 8.49 percent, followed by Windows 7 at 5.27 percent. Fifth is Windows 10 at 1.25 percent, Windows XP 32-bit at 1.15 percent, Windows 8 64-bit, 1.15 percent, Windows 8.1 at 0.27 percent, Windows Vista 32 bit at 0.13 percent, Windows 8 at 0.10 percent and lastly, Windows Vista 64-bit at 0.06 percent.
Amongst other details revealed in the survey, the GTX 970 is the leading choice for video cards at 4.64 percent of users but is gradually losing its share. The GTX 1060 is garnering more and more users up to 1.90 percent. Around 1.64 percent of players stills use 1024x768 resolution, even if there are better choices.
