PlayStation 4 first came out in 2013 but until now, it is one of the hottest gaming consoles in the market. Without a doubt, the device is powerful and entertaining considering the plays it offers to the users, and not to mention, the gaming experience it provides. This may be the reason why Sony hasn't released a new gaming system after a long time.
However, the upcoming year will be different. Usually, Sony gives at least six years intervals before a new console arrives.
According to TechRadar, PlayStation 5 is speculated to arrive in 2019, a perfect time to easily enjoy new technology which involves full native 4K games. This time may also make 4K TVs a norm in every household. In regards to this, there's no doubt that Sony will be expected to have a new console in the market at that time.
However, Chris Kingsley, the Chief Technology Officer at Rebellion, points at the PS4 Pro, saying that the overall cycle may lengthen the release slightly. Probably this is all because PS4 Pro has had a huge number of sales compared to PS4. But then again, potential buyers can take advantage of this time to check out first about what should be expected from PlayStation 5. A big possibility would be about a native 4K support as a requirement.
PS4 Pro has already given a hint about what 4K games would be like, so there's no doubt that PS5 will use this as well. It might also use popular virtual reality experience, as this tech already runs in PS4 Pro. The only difference would be about bringing the VR experience to the next level, which for sure, will be Sony's selling point.
In regards to its form, there are no confirmations yet but Sony Computer Entertainment's executive Vice President Masayasu Ito stated that gamers should expect a next-gen type of gaming consoles. (via IBTimes) However, he's not sure whether PlayStaion 5 will be a console or cloud-based.
