The "Suicide Squad" game is said to have been cancelled for various reasons by none other than Warner Bros. Fans who enjoyed the film are expectedly disappointed, especially as the movie is the first on-screen rendition of the notorious villain faction.
"Suicide Squad" was one of the most controversial films of 2016, gathering both good and bad feedback from fans. Still being a hit, it was said that a game was under way in tribute to it. However, it seems the plan is no longer pushing forward.
Kotaku says that the "Suicide Squad" game was a supposed unannounced project that was meant to go alongside or at least near the film's release, as it is expected to elevate the popularity of the franchise even more. However, Warner Bros. Montreal cancelled the said flick due to differences that made the film unappealing to the board even after continuous approval attempts. Rumors were rather rampant that the game will eventually come forth, although nothing came to fruition except for the successful "Batman: Arkham Underworld" mobile game.
The "Suicide Squad" game was reportedly cancelled to make another "Batman" game that will, instead, star Damian Wayne, without a fully-disclosed story to tell just yet. That being said, any further news regarding the proposed game should be taken with a grain of salt.
For those uninformed, the "Suicide Squad" film was based off the titular comics that talk of a prominent group of outlaws hired by the government to go on perilous missions in exchange of shaving sentence time. Known primarily as Task Force X, the faction is manipulated by Amanda Waller, consistently adding members to the group as some die along the line of their deadly duties.
A sequel of the aforementioned movie is expected to be in the works. It is believed that the game could come in the future along with the follow-up, but this is yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros.
