Jared Leto made his debut into the DC Extended Universe in “Suicide Squad.” With a role as big as The Joker, it can only be expected that he will soon be returning to reprise his role as the Clown Prince. That said, the Internet has been abuzz with reports about Leto’s involvement in “Justice League.”
Sadly, however, known tipster Umberto Gonzales - otherwise known as El Mayimbe - refuted these claims. “Sorry, DC fanboys,” he wrote on Twitter. “Yesterday’s rumor that surfaced about Jared Leto being in ‘Justice League?’ Unfortunately, not true.”
“Suicide Squad” received mixed reviews, but majority of the positive feedback that it got was aimed at Jared Leto’s portrayal of The Joker. Sadly, the actor revealed in an interview with Heroic Hollywood that a huge number of his scenes were edited out. “There were a lot of scenes that did not make it to the final film,” he said. “Hopefully, they will see the light of day. Who knows?”
Despite his dissatisfaction with “Suicide Squad” showrunners, it would appear that Jared Leto is back on board to reprise his dark character. Apparently, the actor had recently posted some cryptic photos on Snapchat - which were reposted by a fan of his on Twitter.
The images that Leto posted were all related to the Clown Prince. The first one was a close up of the cover of “Batman: The Killing Joke,” while the second one featured a human tooth with gold that got turned into a necklace pendant. The former is reportedly a controversial comic book series that was released in 1988.
“Batman: The Killing Joke” is regarded as the arc that contains The Joker’s origin story, according to Screen Rant. It takes place in two time lines. One tells the story of The Joker’s early days through a flashback. He was an unsuccessful comedian who had a pregnant wife. His hard life drove him to insanity and to turn to crime. The second time line takes place in the present day. The Joker will exhaust all efforts at driving Commissioner Gordon insane. As part of his plan, he shoots Barbara Gordon, paralyzing her in the process.
