“Hellboy” is the brainchild of Dark Horse, one of the industry’s comic book publishers. DC and Marvel may have dominated the comic book industry, but the publisher of “Hellboy” managed to maintain a solid run for 30 years.
The aforementioned comic book franchise, which first debuted in 2004, had a relatively weird supernatural theme. Still, it was fairly well-received by the audience. “Hellboy 2” followed soon after, but neither proved to be blockbusters. Despite not being regarded as box office hits, “Hellboy” and “Hellboy 2” performed well enough that it gathered a cult following.
Now, nine years since the last “Hellboy” instalment, director Guillermo Del Toro confirmed on his Twitter account that he will make a move toward “Hellboy 3.” He conducted a survey on social media and asked “Hellboy” fans if they want him to talk to Ron Perlman and writer Mike Mignola to discuss “Hellboy 3.” His poll got more than 100,000 “Yes” votes.
“I will arrange the sit-down with Ron and Mignola to talk ‘Hellboy 3,’” Del Toro posted. However, he emphasized that there will be “no guarantee” that his former co-workers will also say “Yes” to “Hellboy 3.”
After the famous director announced his plans regarding “Hellboy 3” to everyone, his followers did not expect him to get on it right away. However, much to the surprise of his fans, Del Toro posted an update regarding this matter just a couple of hours later.
“I spoke with Perlman,” he wrote. “He is in for the sit-down.” Apparently, the director was “very moved” by the love and support that “Hellboy” fans have for the franchise. It is this support that inspired him to act quickly for “Hellboy 3.” Now that Perlman is open to discussion, Del Toro also wrote that he will be approaching Mignola next.”
Although he has not spoken with Mignola yet, Screen Rant has reported that it is highly likely he will be equally interested to discuss the franchise’s third instalment. After all, it is expected that he would want to take part in any discussion that involves his property.
