“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is coming to big screens in May, and recent cast additions confirm that there will be new members to the world-saving team. Apart from Mantis, Karen Gillan has just confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Nebula.
Gillan’s character is a key supporting villain in the franchise. The envy that she has toward her sister, Gamora, feeds her hatred. Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana, had just confirmed that, in addition to “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” she will also be part of the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War” film. “Every time I finally arrive on set, I feel so happy and lucky to be there,” Zaldana said.
Now, her archenemy, Nebula, has also confirmed her participation in the upcoming “Avengers” film instalment. “I will be making a little appearance in the next ‘Avengers’ movies,” Gillan told BBC Scotland. Unfortunately, she did not give any further details about how “little” her role is going to be. It could either mean she will only have a short cameo appearance, or her role is of very little significance.
The crucial word, however, is “movies.” This suggests that Gillan will not only be part of the “Avengers: Infinity War” cast, but she will also be in the “Avengers 4” film in 2019. The latter was initially titled “Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2,” but was later reverted back to its untitled status.
As reported by Screen Rant, the franchise’s film makers wanted to come up with standalone films. Still, the plan is to make all movies included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe back-to-back, and alongside “Wasp,” “Ant-Man,” and “Black Panther.”
Earlier reports have also pointed out that “Avengers: Infinity War” might be filmed in certain areas in Scotland, which happens to be Gillan’s homeland. Upon hearing this news, Gillan was clearly very excited. “I was like, ‘What are the chances of that?’” she exclaimed. “It is amazing! Fingers crossed!”
