The “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise was first met with mixed feedback from the audience. The first film might have been regarded as a blockbuster, but it still had difficulty shaking off its haters.
Jamie Dornan, who plays the role of Christian Grey, will be reprising the character in the upcoming “Fifty Shades Darker.” This film will be the second instalment in this raunchy book-to-movie adaptation of EL James’ raunchy novels. Despite being part of the film’s cast, Dornan has revealed that he “always knew people would have a lot of opinions about it.”
“As much as it has 100 million fans, there is a lot of people who are not into it and are very vocal about that,” Dornan told GQ Australia, according to news.com.au. “You go in knowing it is a divisive project and you just accept that it does not stand alone in that realm.”
Still, despite the number of people snubbing the franchise that he co-stars with Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele, Dornan said that he does “not blame people.” “I have got plenty of opinions about things I do not know a lot about or that I do not give a chance,” Dornan started. “I am not going to los any sleep over it.”
To prepare for his S&M-loving character, Dornan has shared that he had to spend time inside an actual S&M club. “It was like nothing I had experienced before,” he admitted. Apparently, Irish actor “had no interest in that world” prior to “Fifty Shades Darker” and its predecessor movie.
His co-star, Johnson, also revealed to Vogue that “nudity is really interesting for an actor.” According to the actress, “there were no inhibitions” at all. “There are no clothes to tell you a bit about the story,” she added. “There was no jewelry to give you a clue about social status. So, it becomes purely about the performance.”
