An unannounced Sony device has popped up on the GFXBench database, and it might be the next-generation Xperia Z4 flagship.
For a good while now, the rumor mill has been buzzing in anticipation of the Sony Xperia Z4, and various reports so far have tried to paint a picture of what to expect in terms of specifications.
A new Sony device has now surfaced in the GFXBench database, sporting model number E6533. While there is no guarantee, this unannounced smartphone may be the rumored Xperia Z4.
If this is true, however, and the E6533 listed on GFXBench is indeed the Sony Xperia Z4, the device will not fall in line with all rumors. For instance, some reports indicated that the Xperia Z4 would boast a QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, but the device spotted on GFXBench appears to have a 5.1-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time that rumors go a bit overboard, listing higher-end specifications expected for a handset. The HTC One M9 was also rumored to feature a QHD display, and it launched with a full HD screen.
Screen resolution aside, the rest of the specifications of this purported Xperia Z4 fall in line with previous rumors. The device will come with an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood, paired with Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 20-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front shooter.
Sony is expected to officially take the wraps off its new-generation Xperia Z4 smartphone sometime later this month, but no specific date is known at this point. At the same time, it has not been confirmed whether this Sony E6533 device will indeed hit the market as the Sony Xperia Z4, and whether it will have these exact specifications when it launches. As always with leaks, it's highly recommended to take everything with a grain of salt until the company makes a formal announcement. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
