Some newly-leaked images claim to show the digitizer of Sony's next flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, which should debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015.
We're still a couple of months away from the CES 2015 trade show, but the rumor mill has already started churning in anticipation. CES is one of the biggest annual tech events and each year it serves as a venue for numerous exciting announcements. Next year should be no different, and Sony may announce its next flagship at the event.
Sony has already planned its CES 2015 media event, which will take place on Jan. 5 starting at 5 PM PST, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth 14200, the company has officially announced.
The general belief is that Sony will introduce its next-generation flagship smartphone at the event, unveiling the new Xperia Z4. While nothing is official regarding the upcoming handset just yet, various leaks and reports have already started to pop up, trying to paint a picture of what to expect.
Based on rumors so far, the upcoming Sony Xperia Z4 should sport a 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and rock a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor under the hood, paired with Adreno 430 graphics, a hefty 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage capacity. Other rumored specs include support for Qi wireless charging, NFC, as well as IP68 certification to make the smartphone dust and water resistant.
Some images have now leaked online, courtesy of Future Supplier, allegedly showing the LCD Digitizer of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z4. It's worth pointing out that the same publication leaked images of the Galaxy Note Edge's digitizer before the device made its official debut, and the images turned out to be the real deal. That doesn't necessarily guarantee that this leak is accurate, but lends more credibility to the claim.
The newly-leaked images show some changes in terms of design, with the speaker now located to the edge, while the front shooter and proximity sensor have switched places. The speaker on the bottom has also been moved to the edge.
Compared to the current Xperia Z3, the Xperia Z4's LCD Touch Digitizer seen in these images sports a similar display size. This contradicts some previous rumors indicating that the Sony Xperia Z4 would feature a massive 6.2-inch screen.
On the other hand, this is just a leak that may or may not turn out to be accurate, so make sure to treat it accordingly. The Sony Xperia Z4 is rumored to make its debut at CES 2015, but some rumors also suggested that it may actually debut at the subsequent Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, but take all leaks, rumors and reports with a grain of salt until an official announcement.
