The rumored Nexus smartphone from Motorola has surfaced in a new report, with new information and a fresh render suggesting a real powerhouse.

Google has yet to announce plans to launch a new Nexus this year, but speculation has been ripe that the company is working on at least one new device. While recent reports have also focused on a Nexus 9 tablet from HTC, several leaks indicate that a Motorola Nexus smartphone could make an imminent debut.

This purported smartphone from Motorola has surfaced on several occasions so far under the codename "Shamu," but there has been some speculation regarding its official name. While some expected it to launch as the Nexus 6, others claimed the branding would pose some copyright issues and the handset would launch as the Nexus X instead.

A new report from Android Police now claims to have more details on the matter. The publication says it can now "confirm" that the device will be called the Nexus 6 after all, and it will come with a 5.9-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Android Police doesn't reveal the source of its information, but offers a render it created based on what it has heard and seen in regards to this upcoming Nexus handset from Motorola.

If the details of this render turn out to be accurate, the smartphone will come with stereo front speakers and a few UI changes, at least to the icons on the home screen. The phone is also expected to sport a metallic frame just like the new Moto X, which would add more style and sturdiness.

The render only shows the front of the device, but the back is expected to house a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), as well as the same dual-flash ring setup found on the new Moto X. The smartphone is further rumored to come with a 2-megapixel front shooter and a large battery of at least 3,200 mAh, which will reportedly support Motorola's quick charger technology.

This new report, combined with previously-leaked information, suggest that the Motorola Nexus smartphone will be a real powerhouse with high-end specs and features all around, as well as a more premium build. The handset is also rumored to come with some premium pricing to match, but no exact details are available in this regards for now.

Keep in mind that it's all based solely on leaks and speculation at this point, and the image above is a render created by Android Police, not a real image of the device. With this in mind, take everything with a grain of salt until official details surface.
