Google has delivered a small update for Android 15 beta users, polishing the platform ahead of the public Android 15 QPR1 release next month.

According to reports, the update is Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3.1, which focuses on bug fixes and system stability enhancements. Based on Pixel 6 and newer devices as well as the Pixel Tablet, this ensures that users who are still running on the second QPR1 should see performance improvements.

No new key features are coming in this build, but it fixes many of the top-reported bugs from beta users, according to Android Central.

  • NFC Payments Fixes: Resolves long-standing issues causing failed NFC transactions.
  • Media Controls Fix: This fixes a bug where a tap on media controls closed the notification shade but did not open the concerned app.
  • Volume Control Fix: It corrects inconsistencies between Bluetooth device volume adjustments.
  • Refined Material You Colors: This update corrects overly similar wallpaper-derived color options in the Material You theme.
  • Scrollbar Styling: Scrollsizer-sizing, and styling in system settings should now be more consistent due to this update.
  • Translation Updates: Fixes the display on Indonesian and Hebrew translations for apps targeting Android 14 or lower.
  • Other Enhancements: Adds improvement to system stability, camera functionality, connectivity, accessibility, and interactivity.

Who Gets the Update?

This update is only available to those members who are a part of the Android Beta Program. Any Android device that has been enrolled in the beta will automatically receive the update over-the-air, if it is still running Android 15 QPR1, of course.

Those who have upgraded to the Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 or manually installed Android 16 Developer Preview 1 will not need this update.

The build number of Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3.1 is AP41.240925.012, and Google wants to fine-tune the system ahead of the wider public release of Android 15 QPR1.

Why is This Minor Update Still Significant

Although this is an Android 15 beta update that you can ignore easily, it's still important given that it fixes the annoying bugs that affect your Pixel devices' performance.

The fixes are all based on feedback received from users so that it's as lag-free an experience as possible for those waiting for the big leap in Android beta tests.

What's Next for Android Beta Testers?

Beta testers are already turning their focus toward Android 15 QPR2. Meanwhile, rumors suggest Android 16 Developer Previews may offer early glimpses into future updates.

If you're an Android Beta Program participant, ensure your device is updated to enjoy the latest fixes and improvements.

In other news, Google was reportedly planning to turn Chrome OS into Android. Merging the two might be interesting since it will expand the user base, but it's confusing why it will happen.
