Bixby has finally got its own voice! The voice assistant component of Samsung's intelligent assistant for Galaxy S8 is already out but it is just initially available in the home market of its creator.
More than a week ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ with Bixby digital assistant but owners were just able to utilize the feature of Bixby Vision augmented reality, Bixby Home, and Reminders, for the reason that the most important component is still missing its voice. At that time, Bixby was not ready yet to share the spotlight where the S8 duo stand, says The Verge.
Samsung said that any task done through regular touch controls will also be done through the voice command. The full voice control is the major selling point of Bixby, The Verge exclaimed in an article. S8 users haven't waited that long, Samsung activated the voice command service after a notice was sent to the smartphone users this Monday, Phone Arena noted.
Even though the company had announced to its customer that Bixby's voice will not come together with S8's shipment, it promised to roll out the service this coming spring to US smartphone users. Samsung did not release any official statement of what is the cause of the delay. However, according to some testers, the voice feature of Bixby digital assistant was buggy, as what 9to5 Google reported. Looking on the brighter side, S8 users can still access other features that come with it.
A statement from a Samsung official saying that through a learning engine which is called the Deep Learning, Bixby Voice is going through an iterative process to build up user's voice, instruction and other knowledge. Bixby is possible to be installed on other devices even if it officially supported on S8 provided that the device is running Android Nougat which is still not widely used by other devices today. Though the South Korean company already promised that Bixby Voice will be rolled out in the US in spring but Galaxy S8 users from other regions still wait for the tech giant's official announcement of when it will reach them.
