Looks like Samsung is on a roll! The South Korean handset maker recently launched its highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones and is allegedly gearing up to unveil the successor to its controversy-plagued Note 7 smartphone. Tech pundits who thought things can't get any better, well, it certainly can; in the form of a foldable flagship phone dubbed, the Galaxy X.
In March, Samsung gave rumors surrounding the existence of the foldable flagship phone its stamp of approval as the company got trademark certificate for 'Galaxy X' moniker. No prizes for guessing, the rumor mill has gone into overdrive since this shred of information surfaced online. Other reports that have been indicating that the Galaxy X will launch earlier than hoped for, have been adding more fuel to the already burning rumors.
Samsung Galaxy X, Galaxy Note 8 Release Date
The delightful revelation comes from a tech tipster (Twitter handle @mmddj_china) of the Samsung community blog, Samsung Galaxy Club in China, who tweeted that the Galaxy X will be up for grabs in Q3 2017 and not in Q1 2018 as previous reports have been indicating. If this comes to fruition, the Galaxy X will be pitted against Apple's highly anticipated iPhone X a.k.a. iPhone 8, which is expected to boast an array of jaw-dropping features such as 3D selfie camera, an avant-garde touch sensor and lots more.
With Samsung prepping to launch the Galaxy Note 8 this year, TrustedReview suggests the Galaxy X foldable handset will be launched before the equally anticipated heir of the Note 7 smartphone, which leaker mmddj_china says will arrive in Q4 2017. The Galaxy X, on the other hand, could launch around the third quarter of this year.
Samsung Galaxy X Features
The selling point of the Samsung Galaxy X is, without an iota of doubt, its unique form factor. The smartphone will come with a fully foldable body, thanks to the company's proprietary hinge support.
A recently leaked image of Samsung's patent file implies that the device will feature a dynamic fulcrum hinge in the middle, just like the Microsoft Surface Book series, International Business Times reported. Aside from that, the Galaxy X is expected to boast three kinds of biometric sensors, with the ability to recognize the eyes' Iris pattern, palm print as well as a fingerprint.
Details regarding the Galaxy X's screen size, camera, RAM, Storage and components it will pack under the hood are hard to come by, but these features can be readjusted to take on rival brands. Leading handset makers are now resorting to near identical hardware specifications these days, amidst the dearth of innovative and advantageous features.
A considerable number of smartphone manufacturers including Samsung & Apple have announced their own digital assistants -- for instance, Siri for iPhone and Bixby for the Galaxy S8 series. Likewise, the Galaxy X will be using its newfangled design language to have an edge over its rival.
