The latest 9.7-inch iPad was recently revealed by Apple and is now available for pre-order. Interestingly, the hardware layout appears to be similar to that of iPad Air.

The announcement made by the Cupertino-based tech giant in March showcased its new offerings to the market. Although speculations were heavy that there will be four variants of iPad to be launched, only the 9.7-inch was introduced. This move somehow dismayed fans because most are expecting an iPad Pro variant will be launched.

Since the 9.7-inch iPad was introduced, tech analysts centered their evaluations on it. Teardowns were immediately conducted, which are primarily aimed to be used as a guide to anyone who wants to repair the device soon. Some teardowns are also just curious instances of techs wanting to see what is inside a specific device. Teardowns are now available anytime to anybody who wants to check it. This includes all types of electronic gadgets and can be found on iFixit.

In the latest teardown published by the site, it subjected the 9.7-inch iPad. It revealed the innards of the latest device introduced by Apple. What attracted the interest of several techs is that the internal frame divisions, as well as, the arrangements of the components, are identical with the iPad Air. This raised a barrage of questions, and one of them, is Apple getting tired of its iPad range of products?

The first iPad released was heavy and thick and redesigns on the succeeding releases are immediately implemented. It now becomes as common knowledge that Apple is into redesigning its models every after release to a lighter and more portable device. From the result of the teardown, it appears that the Cupertino-based tech giant is having a hard time finding the best thing for its latest iPad model. The interesting thing is that the only difference with the old iPad Air model and the new 9.7-inch iPad is the TouchID sensor, reported Wccftech.

Aside from the fingerprint scanner, which is already expected, Apple just puts several upgrades on the storage, RAM and the processor. Display-wise nothing was changed. However, the company is just selling this new variant for only $329 and with the 32 GB flashes storage, this is the cheapest the company has offered so far, says CNET.
