Samsung's next flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to boast an array of jaw-dropping specs and features in order lure back those who abandoned the brand amidst the Note 7 fiasco.
Samsung's radically overhauled Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone will come without the traditional home button. This makes the S8 the first Galaxy device in the history of S-series smartphones to oust the home button on the front.
While this might look like quite a bold step for Samsung, the South Korean handset maker had more aces up their sleeves in the bid to go even bolder. Samsung opted to put the scanner on the bottom of the Galaxy S8 using the fingerprint technology that allows users to unlock their device simply by placing a finger on the screen.
Samsung Galaxy S8 will be sporting a large display with 18:5:9 ratio leaving hardly any scope for the front-mounted home button. Using the fingerprint technology under the AMOLED display, Samsung unleashed resources into Synaptics' optical tech, but this did not bring about expected results and the company decided to ditch the technology at the eleventh hour.
With the production just around the corner, the company resorted to placing the fingerprint scanner on the rear, right beside the camera, which justifies its unusual location, according to TheInvestor. Meanwhile, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has come out with a new report that centers on Samsung's looming Galaxy S8 media event on March 29th.
Kuo, an acclaimed Apple analyst seem to have deviated his attention to Samsung's long-awaited Galaxy S8 this time around as he predicts that the smartphone will be up for grabs in two size variants including a 5.8-inch display and 3000mAh battery and another sporting a larger 6.2-inch display and a robust 3500mAh battery, 9To5Google reported.
Both models are expected to be OLED and sport WQHD+ resolutions of 2960×2400. Moreover, Kuo even spilled the beans about the shipment split between the two variants alleging it to be 6:4. Furthermore, the Galaxy S8 model that will hit the shelves in the U.S., Japan, and China markets will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor, while variants up for grabs in Europe and the rest of Asia will pack Samsung's Exynos 8895 processor.
