Aside from launching new iPad Pro 2 and an iPad Mini 5, there's word floating around that Apple will also unveil the long-rumored iPhone 8, which has been subject to a slew of rumors and speculations, sooner rather than later.

While the iPhone 8 continues to float on the rumor mill, hype surrounding the Redmond-based company's next flagship smartphone has gone through the roof. It's worth noting, though, Apple's lips are still sealed about the device's specs, features, and exact release date.

Lining with this, the iPhone 7 successor is expected to come in new size, feature facial scanning, and fast charging. But much to the dismay of those excited about the iPhone 8's foretold features; it looks like one of the most anticipated design changes won't be coming to fruition at all.

iPhone enthusiasts, brace yourselves! Apple has decided to dump its plan to come out with a newfangled curved OLED display for the iPhone 8. This disappointing shred of information comes from IHS Markit analyst Wayne Lam, who told MacRumors that Apple will instead go in for a flat implementation of OLED design on their exclusive iPhone model, which is akin to the existing 2.5D glass design.

This will be particularly frustrating to those who have been hoping Apple will follow in the footsteps of Samsung and adopt the South Korean handset maker's lauded dual curved OLED "Edge' displays, first introduced back in 2015 -- giving the flagship a more conventional appearance.

Lam added that the iPhone 8 could come with an LG G6-like flat touchscreen, featuring a new longer aspect ratio design to exploit higher coverage area of the device in its entireness.

In other news, the new smartphone from Apple will not come bearing an iPhone 8 moniker as multiple sources have been claiming; it will be called 'Edition' instead, TheSun reported.

If rumors running rampant online proved to be true, the "iPhone Edition" will hit the store shelves after the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are launched. There's also hearsay that the iPhone 8 will be unveiled after the tenth anniversary. The new iPhone could pattern after the Apple Watch Edition, which sells for £820.

Nothing is set in stone at the moment so readers are advised to take these reports with a huge grain of salt until Apple officially confirms or debunks these rumors. Stay tuned in here for more Apple iPhone 8 news.
