Nintendo has reportedly announced that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be the first game in the long-running series to offer a season pass. The said season pass will be priced at $19.99 and is expected to be made available from March 3, alongside the game's launch.
The season pass for "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will supposedly give players access to two expansions slated to be released later in 2017. Not only that, a few bonuses are said to be accessible immediately, as well.
According to GameRant, season pass owners are going to find three bonus chests in the game's Grand Plateau area. One is said to contain a shirt that has the Switch logo, while the other two have useful items that will eventually help Link on his quest.
More importantly, the pass is expected to arrive on the scene post-launch. The first content pack will be launched in the summer and will bring a new feature for the in-game map, a new hard mode and a new Cave of Trials challenge.
A new dungeon with an accompanying storyline is set to be introduced in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's" second pack, which is slated to arrive near Christmas 2017. More so, Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch and Wii U versions of the game will also receive the season pass content. These packs cannot be bought individually, Kotaku reported.
This would appear to be new as Nintendo doesn't normally go after this kind of post-launch content, especially for its biggest franchises like "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." Although the season pass model faced a lot of criticism, this kind of practice is said to be an advantage for all parties, if executed accurately. Hopefully, it will be all worth the money and would live up to players' expectations.
